You know the satisfaction you get from receiving something in the mail that isn’t trash, ads, or a bill? Or when a letter from a friend shows up unexpectedly and it makes your entire day?
That.
That is what I wanted people to feel with this print club.
So what is print club?
Print club is a monthly art print subscription that delivers a watercolor print, a short story, a cryptogram, and stickers directly to your mailbox. It is sent via snail mail (USPS). For these prints and stories, I’m focusing on human connection and the ways people make our lives colorful. The aim is to highlight the way our communities make us into the people that we are and showcase how relationships (romantic, platonic, and other) give us the space to explore more of ourselves. To remind us why we love and why we should continue to love.
This project is a way for me to stay devoted to my craft while chasing that feeling of giving an experience to people that feels thoughtful and caring. I am creating for myself as much as I am for people. For the joy they receive. So they can see themselves in the art I create like shopping for flowers at the farmers market with your friends or enjoying a sunset with someone. For it to be accessible. To dive deeper in embracing something tangible that they can put their hands on. Whether they frame it or use it in a junk journal, the goal is to make people say “it was so nice to receive that. It made my day” or “I can’t wait to see what I receive this time.”
We are so lost in a digital landscape that this is to give people something to hold onto. The cryptograms are also a way to bring us back into our bodies instead of being on our screens. What is a cryptogram? It is a puzzle that requires you to decipher coded messages. There is usually a letter, number, or symbol that stands for a letter in the alphabet. Once you have decoded each letter, it reveals a quote. The cryptograms challenge your brain with a puzzle and forces you to slow down to decipher what each letter is a substitute for. It is a way to keep our brains sharp, or at least a little sharper. And of course the stickers. I don’t know. I just like stickers. Stickers make me happy and again whether they go in a junk journal or on a waterbottle, they are just nice to have.
Whether you choose to be a part of my print club or another snail mail club, I hope you give yourself the experience of receiving something that feels thoughtful & provides you with a deep sense of happiness. That you feel the love, time, and effort packed into each envelope that is delivered directly to your door.
If you’ve been craving something like that, you can join the “still, we love” print club here.
Subscriptions close on the 15th, and each month ships on the 20th.
